The Duke of Edinburgh's Awards
At Park House School we offer the opportunity for our students to take their Duke of Edinburgh awards.
As quoted by HRH The Duke of Edinburgh KG KT on The Duke of Edinburgh's Awards website “The Duke of Edinburgh’s Award has helped countless young people on their sometimes difficult path to adulthood.”
We have been running the awards for several years and offer all three levels:

Bronze – can be started during Year 9

Silver – can be started during Year 10

Gold – can be started from 16 years of age and can be finished post-Sixth Form

Examples of the aspects required within the awards will include:

A Skill which could be playing a musical instrument

A Physical Activity which could be an afterschool sport i.e Rugby, Netball, Hockey, Badminton, Table Tennis etc

A Volunteering Activity such as working within the local community, i.e young leader in scouting, guiding, helping an elderly neighbour, helping within the school community – sports leaders, mentors etc
Expedition training is scheduled nearer to their assessment dates which will take place either at school or at a training centre. After training, we plan that expeditions are during weekends within a given school year. Gold students are required to do a residential week which often taken place during taster weeks at university. The award scheme is internationally recognised with employers and universities. By completing your awards you will become skillful in various aspects of community life, helping others, becoming fitter and enjoying life.
