Why choose Physics?

Physics develops deep scientific understanding and powerful analytical problem-solving skills. It supports innovation and opens pathways from engineering and medicine to technology and finance.

What you will study

Foundations of physics
Measurements, particles, waves, mechanics, materials and electricity.
Fields and modern physics
Thermal physics, gravitational, electric and magnetic fields, and nuclear physics.
Practical and optional study
Practical skills and data analysis, plus an option such as astrophysics, medical physics or engineering physics.

Entry requirements

Standard PH6 entry requirements: at least five GCSEs at grades 9–5.

Science
Grade 6–6 or above in Combined Science, or grade 6 in Biology, Chemistry and Physics.

Mathematics
Grade 6 or above. Studying A Level Mathematics alongside Physics is beneficial.
