Why choose Physical Education?

A Level PE develops the scientific, psychological and socio-cultural knowledge behind performance. You will apply theory to practical activity and analyse how to improve a chosen performance.

What you will study

Applied anatomy and physiology
How the body responds and adapts to exercise and skilled performance.
Psychology and socio-cultural studies
Motivation, learning, society, participation and contemporary issues in sport.
Performance and evaluation
Develop as a performer or coach, then analyse and evaluate performance in depth.

Entry requirements

Standard PH6 entry requirements: at least five GCSEs at grades 9–5.

GCSE PE
Grade 6 or above.

Students may be considered without GCSE PE; playing sport outside school is strongly advised.
