Health & Social Care connects human biology with the realities of delivering effective support. You will consider conditions and illnesses, communication, equality, legislation and access to services while developing transferable professional skills.

What you will study

Human development and biology
Growth, development, body systems, physiological functioning and common disorders.
Care practice
Values, legislation, safeguarding and the social determinants of health.
Health and wellbeing
Choose a specialist internal unit focused on policy, education, safe environments or health science.

Entry requirements

Standard PH6 entry requirements: at least five GCSEs at grades 9–5.

There is no requirement to have studied Health & Social Care at Level 2.

Unit 1 Human Lifespan Development; external examination, 90 minutes External units: 50% combined
Unit 2 Human Biology and Health; external examination, 90 minutes External units: 50% combined
Units 3 and 4 Health and Social Care Practice plus one specialist option; internally assessed Internal units: 50% combined
