Welcome to the information hub for the Year 9 Subject Choices process for the Class of 2030.

Year 9 marks the point at which students begin to shape their future learning pathway, making decisions about the subjects they will study in Years 10 and 11. For many students, this is the first stage of a four-year journey through Park House School, continuing into Park House Sixth Form in Years 12 and 13.

The subjects chosen at this stage will:

• form the foundation for success at GCSE

• support progression into A Levels, vocational qualifications, and other Level 3 pathways

• develop the knowledge, skills, independence, and study habits required for Sixth Form and beyond

Students do not need to have a fixed career plan at this stage. Instead, GCSE choices should be made thoughtfully, balancing enjoyment, ability, and progression, while keeping a broad range of future options open. Many Sixth Form pathways are built directly upon the subjects studied at GCSE, making these decisions an important part of long-term planning.

This information hub, alongside the Year 9 Subject Choices Booklet, is designed to support students and parents in making informed, realistic decisions and to encourage successful progression into post-16 study at Park House School.

Subject choices are submitted via Applicaa and must be selected in genuine order of preference. Preference order is taken into account when subjects are oversubscribed, ensuring that students who select a subject as their first choice are prioritised. The same principle applies to reserve choices, so these should also be chosen carefully.
