Sports Update

The summer term has continued with cricket for the boys and moved to rounders for the girls. Like always the students' commitment to clubs and fixtures is paramount and continues to thrive.

The 9s rounders team were again extremely unfortunate with the weather as their fixture was called off moments before they left. However, despite the poor weather, the girls' commitment to training was excellent. They braved the rain that day to play alongside the 10s for some famous Mrs Rowland biscuits. The other years have managed to have their first round of fixtures. The Year 7s had varied results winning, drawing and losing one. They demonstrated excellent diversity in batting to quick thinking all whilst still learning the game. With some excellent deep fielding from Grace G and accurate backstop link ups from Amelia J, we were able to limit Trinity’s batting by getting a number of players out at first. The 8s and 10s have fantastic numbers and entered two teams into the leagues. The A teams in both years won two games each with the 8s drawing their last. The 8 A had some great teamwork between Tabatha D and Steph S on first base to get batters out. The 10 A lost their final by ½ a rounder. The 8 B team lost two but came back winning against JOG and the 10 B team drew one and lost one to the PHS A team. Hopefully the sun stays out and the year groups can finish their next round of matches.

The 7 boys have built on their fixtures from the first term, they had a very strong win against Trinity which put them in contention of winning the District Cricket dependent on other results. Similarly, like the Year 9 girls, the 9 boys cricket fixture was called off due to the rain and again were unfortunate against JOG who called off during the day. Fingers crossed the remaining boys fixtures can be played.

On Friday 7th June the U13s travelled to Palmer Park for their athletics.

The following students qualified for the County Athletics so a huge congratulations to Charlie C, Tabatha D, Ant W and Max A. Charlie came 6th in triple jump achieving 10.36m, Max came fourth with 11.17m, Tabatha came 5th in javelin with 21.53m and finally Ant came 6th in 800m with a time of 2:20.10 minutes.
