Park House School

D of E Bronze Training Weekend

The weather didn’t stop anything over the bronze training weekend whilst students dealt with frozen ground, flooded footpaths and some sunshine.

Whilst completing the training in school, students planned their expedition walk whilst learning some basic map skills, first aid, emergency planning and campsite craft, where students were shown how to pack their belongings safely and securely.

Each training evening finished with the fun of cooking their own meal on the trangia. Students had planned and cooked their own evening meals including the clean up after. With all groups successfully feeding themselves whilst learning the art of scrubbing a burnt pan, the groups were fantastic with great feedback on their attention to detail from the instructions.

Saturday & Sunday's walks were a success with students navigating from White Hill back to school, groups showed outstanding resilience and teamwork correcting themselves when they went wrong and navigating some sizable puddles on the Saturday.

Groups are now ready for the assessed weekend on the 6th & 7th July and we are really excited to see them continue to build their confidence when working in the field.
