Sports Fixtures
The Park House teams have had a fantastic start to the spring season with thirty seven matches being played so far this half term. These have included a variety of friendlies, league matches, County and National Cup games. Similarly, numerous clubs occur each week alongside, helping to broaden our students opportunities of sports and physical activities.
To highlight some particular successes, the Year 9 football team continued in the National Cup tournament winning 3-0 against Glenmoor and Winton Academies. Therefore, they entered the sixth round, coming within the last thirty two schools in the country out of a total of seven hundred and two. They played Matthew Arnold School in a close game. Unfortunately, some near misses and a late goal from the opposition meant the result was not in our favour and ended up 2-4. The Year 9s do however continue next term with following rounds of the County Cup. Likewise, the Year 10 football team are to be congratulated as they are also still in their County Cup competition as they beat Holyport 4-0. Furthermore, the boys football leagues have been flourishing each week with high numbers of participation and several of the years having A and B teams.
The U13 and U15 girls were entered into the County Cup and came up against some experienced and talented players, both teams did lose their games and were knocked out of the competition. After Christmas, the girls moved to participating in the netball leagues where they have been travelling to Kennet to play in two or three round robin fixtures on each night. There has been some superb netball being played which is reflected in the high win rate, with eleven out of eighteen games won. One of our highest league differences comes from the Year 10 B team who played and won against JOG 20-0.
A huge well done to all those who attend clubs and fixtures regularly, keep up the commitment. Don’t forget to follow our Instagram to keep up to date with results, team sheets and notices.
