Park House School Sixth Form Taster Days

Over the course of two days, Thursday, 26th June, and Friday, 27th June, we hosted our annual Park House School Sixth Form Taster Days for prospective students who have been offered conditional places to join the Sixth Form in September 2025. These events served as an invaluable opportunity for prospective students to gain an insight into the Sixth Form experience.
The primary aim of these days was to provide students with a comprehensive overview of what life in Sixth Form entails. Participants had the chance to explore our dedicated Sixth Form facilities, spend time in the Sixth Form block, and engage with current Year 12 students, thereby gaining firsthand perspectives on the academic journey ahead. Additionally, students participated in a series of lessons within the PH6 curriculum, allowing them to experience the teaching style and classroom environment of their chosen subjects. This also included exposure to a selection of other subjects, offering a broader view of the diverse range of academic options available at Park House School. Such experiences are designed to support students in making informed decisions about their future academic pathways and to foster enthusiasm for their upcoming studies.
Throughout the two days, each student attended five different academic sessions, ensuring they had the opportunity to explore their preferred subjects in depth while also gaining exposure to other disciplines. This approach aimed to highlight the breadth and richness of the curriculum offered at PHS, emphasizing our commitment to providing a well- rounded and comprehensive educational experience.
In addition to the academic activities, the afternoons were dedicated to a variety of team-building and recreational activities intended to promote camaraderie and community spirit among prospective students. These included engaging challenges such as rocket building and launching, bridge construction tasks, and interactive games designed to develop teamwork and communication skills. For leisure and fun, students participated in activities involving large Sumo Suits and bouncy basketball shooting castles, which fostered a lively and enjoyable atmosphere.
Furthermore, students had the opportunity to test their knowledge and problem-solving skills in Mr. Holland’s renowned Super Sixth Form quiz, which was also enjoyed by current Year 12 students, creating a sense of continuity and community. On the final afternoon, Mr. King organised a barbecue on the Front Lawn fields, where students, staff, and current pupils played rounders and cricket, whilst enjoying delicious food together.
Overall, the two days were marked by high levels of engagement, enthusiasm, and positive energy from all participants. The event successfully provided prospective students with a meaningful glimpse into the Sixth Form experience, fostering excitement and anticipation for their upcoming transition. We are looking forward to welcoming our new Year 12 cohort in September and supporting them as they embark on this exciting new chapter of their educational journey.
