Why choose Spanish?

Spanish gives you the confidence to communicate in another language while exploring the ideas, cultures and contemporary issues that shape Spanish-speaking societies. You will work with authentic articles, audio, film and literature, developing precise communication, critical thinking and independent research skills valued by universities and employers.

What you will study

Society and change Family, technology, equality, multiculturalism and social issues across the Spanish-speaking world.	Political and artistic culture Music, cinema, cultural heritage, regional identity and aspects of political life.
Literature and film Study one literary text and one film, or two literary texts, in depth.	Research and language Grammar, translation and an individual research project presented and discussed in Spanish.

Entry requirements

Standard PH6 entry requirements: at least five GCSEs at grades 9–5, including English and Mathematics.

Course-specific requirement Grade 6 or above in GCSE Spanish.
