Why choose Further Mathematics?

Further Mathematics introduces powerful ideas such as matrices and complex numbers that are central to many mathematics-related degrees. It is studied alongside A Level Mathematics and can make the transition to university-level mathematics much smoother.

What you will study

Further pure mathematics
Advanced algebra, proof, complex numbers, matrices and extended calculus.

Further statistics
More sophisticated probability models and statistical methods.

Further mechanics
Advanced mathematical modelling of forces, motion and physical systems.

Entry requirements

Standard PH6 entry requirements: at least five GCSEs at grades 9–5.

Mathematics
Grade 8 or above.

This course is studied alongside A Level Mathematics.
