Why choose Textile Design?

Textile Design combines hands-on experimentation with research, critical thinking and independent project work. You will create two- and three-dimensional outcomes, refine a personal style and consider how textiles connect with culture, society and sustainability.

What you will study

Creative textile practice
Experiment with fabrics, fibres, dyeing, printing, sewing, weaving and construction techniques.
Research and development
Investigate artists, designers, cultures and trends, then refine ideas through drawing and annotation.
Personal outcomes
Develop meaningful, technically confident work and curate it for the annual exhibition.

Entry requirements

Standard PH6 entry requirements: at least five GCSEs at grades 9–5.

Creative subject
Preferably grade 5 or above in GCSE Art and Design: Textile Design or another creative subject.

The course includes an annual Art and Design exhibition. Visits, specialist equipment and materials may involve additional costs.
