A Fantastic Finish to Summer Sports Fixtures
As the summer term draws to a close, Park House students have once again shone across a variety of sports, ending the year on a high.
Our Year 8 girls' cricket team were crowned District Champions, the Year 7’s did superbly having a mixture of results but great to see some new faces represent school. The Year 9 cricket team impressed with two great wins at the cricket festival and had a few other friendlies versus the Downs but were close in the results. In an exciting milestone, the Year 7 & 8 girls played their first hard ball cricket match against Kennet—and came away with a fantastic win, 80 runs to 66.
Our Year 10s had rounders fixtures this term with some brilliant wins, however, played a strong Kennet team to finish despite this they played all their games with plenty of laughs along the way. The Year 9’s similarly had mixed results in rounders across the A and B teams, however, great to see so many girls out and playing.
In rounders, our KS3 girls travelled to Gloucester Academy for the GLT Rounders Festival. The Year 8s battled hard and finished 4th, and the Year 7s had an outstanding run, only narrowly missing out on 1st place to come a well-deserved 2nd.
Cricket has continued strongly across the board, with the 1st team boys including rising stars from the younger years. They lost out to Reading School but bounced back to beat St Bart’s with a commanding 6-wicket win. The Year 7s-10s have had several key games over this term with again a mixture of results.
Athletics has also been a major highlight this term. Students in the U13, U15, and U17 age groups competed in the district competition, with several standout performances leading to county team selections. Congratulations to:
- JJ – 1st in shot put
- Tabatha – 2nd in javelin
- Melissa – 6th in 100m
- Noah – Top 10 in 100m
- Florence – 2nd in javelin
- Josh – 5th in triple jump, achieving a PB
- Beth – 3rd in discus with a PB
- Harriet – 1st in 1500m, qualifying for the English Championships – an incredible feat, especially as she’s competing a year young!
Well done to all our students for an amazing summer of sport—your passion, talent, and determination continue to make us proud.
