Park House School

Equality and Diversity

Park House and The Greenshaw Learning Trust are committed to equal opportunities and values diversity. We will challenge prejudice and intolerance and seek to eliminate discrimination.

The promotion of equality of opportunity is in the best interest of our staff, students and the wider community. We will work constantly to ensure Park House School is an open and accepting community to all.

Students learn about the importance of equality and diversity through our PHSE curriculum and assembly program. We aim to educate and carry out functions that;

  • Eliminate discrimination, harassment, victimisation and other conduct that is prohibited by the Equality Act 2010.
  • Advance equality of opportunity between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it.
  • Foster good relations across all protected characteristics – between people who share a protected characteristic and people who do not share it.

We operate a student council, including a Diversity lead alongside a Diversity club that aims to further the aims of the above. Any student who would like to contribute to ideas and/or events can do so through our student voice council, Diversity extracurricular club and our student voice post-box (located in the main corridor).

Our Equalities Policy can be downloaded here.

Events 2024-25

These events are reviewed annually. Any students who would like a particular EDI aspect covered through our program should raise them through the School Council and speak to our EDI lead, Mr Bale. gbale@parkhouseschool.org

Events 2023-24

We hosted a range of events to promote the equality and diversity of our student body. In addition to assemblies and the PHSE curriculum. We hosted events such as cultural diversity day, pride month and other religious festivals from different faiths.

Cultural Diversity Day was celebrated by our very first Cultural Dress fashion show. Students were encouraged to dress in traditional dress and celebrate their roots. Students from our diverse student body celebrate in style. Our wonderful canteen staff also cooked an array of dishes from around the world to further promote our idea of diversity.

Our canteen staff consistently cook dishes from around the world to widen our students' taste buds.

Alongside assemblies, Pride was promoted by a number of key events in the library and around school. We are truly an inclusive school.

We also celebrate a number of key religious festivals to promote and educate our students. Ranging from Ramadan, Eid and Diwali to name a few.
