Sport Fixtures
The second half of the spring season has brought over forty two fixtures being played since the February half term. The boys have continued with their league matches in football while the girls completed their netball leagues.
The Year 9 and 10 boys football teams should be congratulated as they enter the quarter final in their County Cup matches. The 9s played St Bernard's and came away victorious with a 2-1 win. Similarly the 10s played a fantastic well controlled game even when the opposition tried some gamesmanship tactics, in spite of this the team kept their composure and beat Emmbrook 6-0. We wish the teams luck in the next round!
In addition, the netball league matches continued, results were generally not in our favour with only four out of sixteen matches as wins. This may be correlated with commitment to training. However, the two year 10 teams commitment never faltered and the A team had another high victory against the Bart’s B team winning 20-0. It was also fantastic to see several of the sixth formers represent and step onto the court to play against highly competitive and skilled opponents. The team fought hard right until the last minute in each game showing great perseverance and determination. We await to hear league placings so watch this space.
District cross-country was rescheduled to this term due to wet weather conditions and saw numerous students run at Mary Hare. Students experienced a traditional muddy cross country course but completed it with smiles and fantastic effort by all. Notable mentions to Oskar L (3rd in the U13s), Imogen W (the first U13 girl in), Ant W (3rd in the U15s) continuing his success after being selected as part of the English Schools Cross Country team, Isla S & Cordi B (the first 2 girls in for the U15s) with amazing sprint finishes, Max A & Jean-Luc S (who finished 4th & 5th in the U17s), and Charlotte B (12th in the U17s). Well done to all and we look forward to seeing you all out for the athletics season.
