Senior Student Team
After a challenging selection process involving a letter to the Headteacher, Sixth Form and staff vote as well as panel interviews, the Senior Student Team has been announced. Working in their new roles until April next year, the team consists of Head Boy Lucas Voss, Head Girl Katherine Langley; Deputy Head Boys Toby Holloway and Mason Pretorius and Deputy Head Girls Carys Cox, Grace Blake and Gemma Maynard.
We are pleased with the positive attitude since our appointment, from the general warmth of students around school from all year groups, the commitment of those who are the newly elected form captains and those who nominated themselves for the that role too. This is an example of the delightful school community we would like to not only continue, but thrive!
A major focus for the team this year is to improve the communication for students, increasing their involvement and taking a lead in their own school life. Some considerations to contribute to this goal are sending the newsletter to students as well as parents. Also, encouraging the newly elected form captains to feedback from student council to their tutor group and then discuss the next weeks’ topic to bring a variety of ideas – fulfilling their role as a representative. We plan to implement a suggestion box in September in the History corridor for students to place ideas – an alternative way for contributing which some students may be more comfortable with.
Over the next year we would like to discover new ways of celebrating student’s achievements and how they can share their experiences with the wider school. This should create a positive atmosphere in which students feel motivated by a stimulating school life full of experiences, not only focused on the academic learning.
Considering the wider community beyond Park House School, we have a desire to forge relationships with the senior student teams at local secondary schools, enabling a common point of contact and to nourish ideas with collaborative working.
The whole team are very grateful for the support of the 2015/16 team during the time they passed over the responsibility to us. We extend our thanks to Mrs Simpson who did an amazing job organising careers week and will be sadly leaving. As a team, we also look forward to helping Mrs Riley transition into her new role as Deputy Head of Sixth Form, as she will now be part of the Senior Leadership Team we work closely with over the coming year.
