New Principal

Dear Parents and Carers,

Achievement for All Education Trust are delighted to announce the appointment of Mr Tom Goodenough to the position of Principal of Park House School Academy from September 2020.

During a rigorous selection process involving staff, pupils, governors, a local primary executive head teacher and representatives of the Trust, Mr Goodenough stood out as an exceptional candidate to all those involved, and was the clear and unanimous choice of all members of the selection panel.

Tom Goodenough read his English Literature degree in Leeds and North London, graduating in 2001. Following four years working in the pharmaceutical industry, Tom completed his PGCE at the University of Reading and joined the teaching profession. Having worked in three schools previously as Second in English and Head of English, he joined Didcot Girls’ School in 2013 and 'rose through the ranks', leading successfully as Head of English, Assistant Headteacher, Deputy Headteacher and Head of School before being appointed Headteacher from September 2018, during which time the school moved from ‘Good’ to ‘Outstanding’.

Tom lives with his wife and two young sons in Newbury and takes every opportunity to enjoy running, cycling, reading and supporting Tottenham Hotspur.

Mr Goodenough is delighted to be joining Park House School Academy in September 2020, and says

I am really excited to be taking up this role from September at such a special school with a great reputation and inspiring ethos. As a Newbury resident for most of my life, the opportunity to lead a great school in and for my own community is something I am passionate about. I can’t wait to get started working with the exceptional students and staff of Park House School and the wider Achievement for All Education Trust.

Yours sincerely,

Dr Coleen Jackson (Chair, Achievement for All Education Trust)

Professor Sonia Blandford (CEO, Achievement for All Education Trust)
