January 2021 Covid measures

Dear Parents/Carers,

Following the recent government announcement regarding the return of secondary schools after the Christmas break and the additional time being given to schools to establish a testing programme, I am writing to clarify the new arrangements at Park House School.

Key worker/vulnerable children
School will re-open on 5th January for the above students only. If your child attended school as part of this group during the first lockdown, they will again be eligible to attend. Students will be supervised and supported whilst they work on learning tasks set by Heads of Department in week 1 and then the same remote learning tasks as their peers once these commence for each year group.

Students should all use the main Andover Road entrance to the school where they will be collected at 8.45am each morning. This provision will continue until their respective year groups return to normal, full attendance (see below).

We retain a list of eligible students and have this information from primary schools so we have been making contact in recent days to establish who will be attending but please do get in touch if you would like to discuss this provision.

Year 11 and Year 13 students
Remote learning will be set for students from 5th January until 10th January with students returning to normal attendance on 11th January. Remote learning will be set on Satchel:One (formerly Show My Homework) daily and any additional information (for example, regarding online feedback/Q&A sessions) will be emailed to students’ school email addresses.

All other year groups/students (Years 7-10 & 12)
Remote learning will be set for students from 11th January until 17th January with students returning to normal attendance on 18th January. Remote learning will be set on Satchel:One (formerly Show My Homework) daily and any additional information (for example, regarding online feedback/Q&A sessions) will be emailed to students’ school email addresses.

This additional week (from 5th to 10th January) where only exam year groups and key worker/vulnerable children will be in school or learning remotely has been given to schools so that we can focus on planning the testing programme and safe return or all students. We are, however, conscious that this is another week of education missed for Years 7-10 and 12 and we will ensure that future planning takes account of this so that students do not miss out on key learning.

Testing Programme
The details of the testing programme in schools continue to emerge and develop as days pass. As such, we will be in a better position to confirm details once test kits, training and resources begin to arrive in school from Monday 4th January. I will write again once we can be more definite about what this will look like.

Please do continue to complete and return consent forms and any other queries to office@parkhouseschool.org

Kind regards
Tom Goodenough
Principal
