4 May 2020 Update

Dear Parents, Carers and Students

Welcome to the first of what will be two briefing updates this week; a reminder that we will be fully closed on Friday 8 May for the Bank Holiday.

I hope that you had a good weekend and that all families and friends remain safe and well.

It didn’t bring anything particularly substantive by way of education policy update. Current conjecture about possible return dates remains in my view unhelpful at this stage. Rest assured that we are of course planning for it; we want nothing more than to be back together as community in ‘real time’. But, until there is clarity at the national level about the preconditions for the safe return of all schools - and these have been ‘sense checked’ against local logistical challenges - it will, at Park House, remain ‘unusual business as usual’. We are looking forward,in this context, to continuing to refine our approaches to online learning based on all your constructive reflections on current practice and our own self-review. We are very grateful to all who responded to the questionnaires and added additional comments for consideration. Your perspectives are invaluable.

It has also been wonderful to receive the first of our good news stories over the weekend. They are truly inspirational and I am already in awe of what you have been doing to help across our wider community. We look forward to celebrating them together in due course. A reminder of the invitation which went out in Friday’s briefing:

Personal Best – the even better news edition!

We need your good news stories for what will be a slightly different Personal Best this year.

You will have already seen how Mrs Hayes and colleagues have been making PPE for NHS staff, but what have you as parents, carers, students or whole families done that has gone above and beyond?

Maybe you’ve shopped regularly for a neighbour who can’t leave the house? Maybe you were inspired to raise money having seen Captain (now Colonel) Tom Moore’s efforts. Whatever it is that reinforces what we already know – that Park House is built around an amazing community – we want to hear about it!

We would also like to know about any other awards that have come through to you during lockdown. Whatever it is – if you’re proud of it we will be too!

Please email good or high resolution photos and your brief stories plus full contact details should we need to get in touch to find out more, either to tjones@parkhouseschool.org or dpeaple@parkhouseschool.org

I have also been thrilled to receive from staff many examples of truly outstanding work completed remotely by students over the last few weeks. It’s wonderful to see your positive response to online learning in this way. Absolutely brilliant! Virtually keep it up!

Finally, also a reminder about this afternoon’s webinar from Gazing Consultancy. It has been prepared specifically for the whole Park House community, so please do take the opportunity to join via the following link at 4.00pm today. I hope you enjoy it.
