19 June 2020 Update

Dear Parents, Carers and Students

I hope that you all are staying safe and well.

I am deliberately keeping this briefing ‘brief’! Early next week we are meeting as a staff to discuss and confirm provision for the remainder of this term and review scenario planning for the start of the new academic year. And of course we will apparently shortly receive more details about the government’s ‘great big plan’ for education moving forward. There’ll be plenty to follow next week.

In addition to our Personal Progress Tutorials which are being managed very successfully this week, we are looking forward to the start of our Year 12 Extended Project programme and the first phase of practical sessions for students in Years 10 & 12 next week. If you have received a letter from Miss Wozniak regarding practical sessions and have not yet responded, please contact her by email at nwozniak@parkhouseschool.org.

We apologise if some of the live lessons have only been in audio, we are looking at the technical issues surrounding this. If your son or daughter does experience any difficulties, please ask them to email their Tutor in the lesson time.

The draft Relationships and Sex Education Policy will be placed on the school website from Monday 22 June for a consultation period.

Please also see the separate link with exciting news from the PE Department regarding the Annual Sports Presentation Evening >>>

In the interim, thank you for all the amazing stories that you are continuing to send through for Personal Best; I am also inspired by the brilliant examples of what students are achieving through virtual learning that are being shared by staff.
Have a great weekend. Please stay safe.

Very best wishes
Derek Peaple

Early next week I will be doing a prerecorded interview with world rugby legends David Campese, Jonathan Davies (now also BBC TV Commentator), Ieuan Evans and Phil Davies that will form the basis of a charity fundraiser for the school, including all Mrs Hayes’ amazing, continuing work on PPE. If you are a rugby fan and have a question you’d like me to ask these icons of the game, please email me by Monday morning! Thank you.
