So, no more word play this week or, indeed, tenuous links to wider themes. Whoopi, I hear you shout!

Just a couple reflections on the incomparable breadth of our students’ talent and, in particular, their creativity.

What genuinely amazes me about the quality of this and, in fact, all our school productions is that these young people combine a genuinely professional level and intensity of performance alongside the day to demands of school work. It’s not like this, like a West End performer, is their sole area of focus, their raison d’etre. And it’s also the months of preparation and rehearsal that sit behind and ultimately enable such a incredible, collective quality of performance...

I also saw our students talent and creativity unleashed in another context this week.

On Thursday I had the privilege of accompanying a group of Year 10s and 11s on a visit to Oriel and University Colleges, Oxford...

As part of the aspirational experience, the students had the opportunity to take part in ‘taster’ tutorials in Psychology, History and Egyptology - all designed to test intellectual independence, autonomy and curiosity…

They, quite frankly, amazed their graduate and undergraduate tutors by the extent of their insight and, above all, the creativity of their thinking.

I know I’m biased. Of course I’m biased. I’m allowed to be biased!

But I really do think our students are second to none....
