But Amanda Spielman’s proposed move away from exclusively data-driven assessment of a school’s effectiveness towards a broader, more qualitative evaluation of the wider role of the curriculum and the diversity of opportunities offered in shaping equally rounded, caring and morally responsible young people is certainly to be welcomed.
