Consumed By a Purple (Mr) Peo(a)ple Eater...?
In 1958, the following song performed by Sheb Wooley topped the US Billboard charts...
The lyrics are a little confusing; bizarre, indeed.
"I said Mr Purple People Eater, what's your line?
He said eating purple people, and is sure is fine.
But that's not the reason I came to land.
I wanna get a job in a rock 'n' roll band."
They even formed the basis of a 1988 film!

As far as I can make out (!), they describe how a one-eyed, one-horned flying creature from space comes down to earth because it wants to join a rock 'n' roll band.
Of course!
Apparently, the creature itself isn't necessarily purple, but just eats purple people.

Whatever the song's deeper 'meaning' this unlikely creature would have had a field day at Park House last Friday!
That's because we were delighted to 'turn purple' in support of Newbury Rotary Club's End Polio Now Campaign....

Purple has been adopted as the colour to symbolise the global vaccination programme against this disease. So...
Our respected uniform was unceremoniously accessorised...

Our Deputy Head Girl went beyond the call of duty..

And we all had great fun, for a fantastic cause...

Raising £1,500, which will provide vaccinations for 7,500 children.
My blog last week reflected on values; this week's is therefore the celebration of the generosity of spirt of a school community that knows and understands how to put those values into practice.
As a Purple Mr Peaple, I'm delighted to be consumed by it...
